Engineering science is an interdisciplinary program that incorporates a wide range of engineering disciplines and basic sciences. The main goal of engineering science is to train engineers with strong basic sciences knowledge. A group of specialized faculty members in the department of fundamental science have always been responsible for teaching basic sciences to students of engineering colleges due to the size and scope of the University of Tehran. Considering the importance of interdisciplinary applied researches and the need to train experts with a multidisciplinary approach, in 2015 the department of basic/Fundamental science was upgraded to a school and the School of Engineering Science was established as one of the engineering schools in College of Engineering. This school is also responsible for educating and training students in the emerging fields of engineering sciences in addition to teaching basic science to freshmen engineering students. The field of engineering sciences offers 142 units of undergraduate courses and has three majors in computational engineering sciences, engineering mathematics, and engineering physics. The school offers both undergraduate and graduate programs, and has 28 capable, up-to-date and energetic faculty members who hold specialized doctorates in various fields of basic sciences and engineering.
